Photos stay editable on the canvas.

Adjust

Use adjustments for exposure, color, and tone. Load a .cube LUT to grade a whole set the same way.

Select and mask

Press M for pixel selection. Refine the edge, then turn the selection into a mask.

Retouch

Press J for the Retouch tool to clean up spots and distractions.

Blend

Every layer has blend modes and opacity, just like you would expect.
