One material. Four jobs.

Every material knows what it can be, and shows up wherever that fits.

  1. Any shape, text, or stroke, lit for real.

  2. Pixel sort, VHS, fluted glass, and risograph on any image or clip.

  3. Crystallize, ink bleed, and light leak between clips or screens.

  4. Glow ribbon, watercolor, charcoal, and spray, in raster, vector, and 3D.

Or build your own. Nodes, layers, or code.

Patch nodes, stack layers like a design, or write the shader yourself. It all stays live.

One app. Five workspaces, one file.

Shader Lab Live materials for every layer, in every workspace.

Good questions. Short answers.

What is a live material?

A surface that is computed, not pictured: metal, glass, paper, fabric, and light that react to the pointer, time, and sound, at any size.

Where can I use them?

As fills in Design, effects and transitions in Temporal and prototypes, brushes for painting, and surfaces in 3D and Spatial.

Do I need to know shaders?

No. Every material comes with real controls. When you want more, build your own with nodes or layers, or write the code.

Will it run on my machine?

Materials are GPU accelerated, and they fall back gracefully on browsers and machines without the newest graphics features.

Is Shader Lab extra?

No. It comes with every plan, next to Design, Moto, Temporal, and 3D.

Make it shine.

Shader Lab comes with every plan, and its materials work in every workspace.
